The Coffee Detective Newsletter

Issue #37 July 2015

Greetings,

It has been a busy month, and I have plenty to share with you!

First, I have added a new survey to our survey page. As always, you click one button, then click the Done button. And that’s it. 10 seconds max.

The question this time is simple: What Kind of Coffee Drinker Are You?

At one end of the spectrum we have the all-out coffee snobs, and at the other end is the person who will drink anything that says Coffee on the label.

What kind of coffee drinker are YOU? Please let us know.

It’s the first survey on the page here.

Next up are the reviews I promised you in my last newsletter.

First, our review of the Breville Dose-Control Pro conical burr coffee grinder. We love this grinder. It’s now the one we use ourselves every day. It just makes it super easy to set both the coarseness of the grind and the timing of the grind.

Each morning I just hold the filter under the grinder spout, press one button and get a perfect dose of fresh-ground coffee for our morning brew.

When I want to make an espresso, I have a different pair of grind and time settings. Then I just place the portafilter in a cradle under the grinder spout and press that button.

You can watch our video review of the Breville Dose-Control Pro here.

Next, we tried a really good cold brew coffee maker, the Hario Mizudashi. This is a sleek and elegant brewer, and makes it super-easy to make cold-brew coffee in 12 to 18 hours. Perfect for the summer, and also good for people with sensitive stomachs, as cold-brew coffee is much less acidic.

Here is our video review of the Hario Mizudashi.

Finally, I promised you I’d tell you about a new coffee subscription club I’m trying. The company is called Drift Away Coffee, and I really like what they are doing.

You can read all about them, and our review of one of the coffee samples they sent us here.

That’s it for this issue. I hope you are having a wonderful summer! Best wishes,

Nick
