Coffee grounds in the cup?

QUESTION:
When I pour a cup of coffee from my percolator I always have grounds at the bottom of my cup. Any suggestions?
ANSWER:
It sounds like you have a faulty fit somewhere inside your percolator. A metal part may have been bent or dinged over time, creating an imperfect seal and allowing coffee grinds to escape from the coffee grind chamber during the percolation process.
I would take a very close look at how well the parts are fitting together and, if necessary, purchase replacement parts for the coffee chamber and its lid.
If the percolator is getting on in years, you may also want to look at alternative brewers, like a drip brewer. Percolators have declined in popularity over the years because they do tend to "cook" the coffee and make it a little bitter.
That said, it's up to you. If you like your coffee percolated you can either find replacement parts for the percolator you have now or even buy a new one.
