How can I choose a good coffee maker?

by Maria
(Phoenix Arizona USA)

QUESTION:

I cannot make good coffee. I have to believe it's my coffee maker ... I've tried all sorts of different coffees/brands.

Any suggestions??

ANSWER:

One way to figure out whether it’s the coffee maker or you is to get yourself a simple coffee press or French press and experiment with it a little.

Try some different coffees and blends. Adjust the grind of the coffee, the proportion of coffee grinds to water, the brew time and so on.

The coffee press is one of the simplest coffee makers. No power supply required. It is also one of the best ways to make great coffee.

Once you have found a coffee you really like and have figured out the best proportion of coffee grinds to water, maybe you will want to get another automatic coffee maker. Or maybe you’ll find the coffee from your coffee press so wonderful you won’t want to try anything else!

We have a page with more information about coffee presses.
