How to make espresso coffee grounds.

by Flo
(Sacramento, Ca, USA)

QUESTION:

Can I make espresso with any coffee bean by grinding it finer?

ANSWER:

Indeed you can.

Plenty of people think that espresso is made from special “espresso” coffee beans. Not so. This idea spreads because some coffee roasters sell what they describe as “espresso blends”.

And yes, there are certainly opinions about what kind of coffee is best for making espresso. But the bottom line is that you can make espresso with any kind of coffee bean.

As you suggest in your question, the key is not found in the bean, but in the fineness of the grind.

If you have an espresso machine and grinder, by all means try whatever coffee bean you like. Over time, you’ll form your own preference for the coffee bean or blend, and the roast you like best for your espresso.
