What kind of container is best for storing coffee?

by angela sabarre
(Ormoc city, Philippines)

QUESTION:

I’m planning to give away ground coffee for party favors, but I want the containers to be useable as well.

Does the material of the container still affect the coffee beans/ ground coffee? Will a tin can affects the taste and quality of the coffee?

What specific container is best in storing coffee besides keeping it in a cool and dry place?

Thank you.

ANSWER:

Some people like to store their coffee in steel or ceramic jars, but I think you’ll be just fine with tin cans, so long as the seal is good and no air can get inside.

Coffee has been sold in tin cans for decades and most ground coffee is still sold in tin cans.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
