What's the caffeine content percentage?

QUESTION:

I recently bought Illy espresso coffee whole bean and now I see that the can says that the caffeine content is less than 1.5%. Did I inadvertently buy decaf coffee?

ANSWER:

Don’t worry, you didn’t buy decaf. In fact, a caffeine content of 1.5% is high compared to most coffees.

The caffeine content is impacted by three factors: the origin of the coffee, the roast of the coffee and the brewing method used. For instance, many people think that a shot of espresso has a lot more caffeine than a cup of regular coffee. Not so.
