Which are the top coffee producing countries?

by Ruby
(Singapore)

QUESTION:

I want to know the top ten coffee producing countries in the world, and some information about them.

ANSWER:

Different groups and organizations have slightly different "top 10" lists. But here's a pretty accurate list for you.

Brazil

Colombia

Costa Rica

Indonesia

Vietnam

Mexico

Ethiopia

India

Guatemala

Guinea

Among these, the two really, really big producers are Brazil and Colombia.

You'll find some additional information on some of these countries and their coffees on our Gourmet Coffee page.

Just scroll down to the end of that page and you'll find links to information on Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya and Sumatra.

You forgot to mention Haitian coffee.
In 7th century Haitian coffee was classed the world's best coffee.Unfortunately, the production has been completely destroyed by several embargos used to overthrow dictators in Haiti. But still,in Italia, Haitian coffee is making is way desspite a very poor production under the label of cafe de "THIOTE"which, according to a recent italian survey could compete with Starbucks coffee product the most world respected coffee for now.

I think the top ten producer by quantity are listed at the top and every body agreed. It is number, this country produce this much the other country produce that much. But if you want to know the quality and the test don't look left and right drink ETHIOPIAN coffee. It it is the best of all. If you don't drink ETHIOPIAN coffee I don't think you know the wright test of coffee. And don't forget the origin of coffee is ETHIOPIA.

Do you want to brew the best coffee? Let me tell you my daily coffee. The colour of the coffee is perfect:Dark, mysterious and alluring. The steaming vapors that rose from the cups only intensified the robust, delicious aroma. This coffee needed no sugar nor milk to hide behind. It would stand on its own merit. OHHHHHHHHH Ethiopian harar coffee the mother of all coffee. I LOVE IT.

Is this bean (Arabica) really from the country of Colombia?

Editor's Note: Arabica is a description of the type of bean, not the country of origin. Arabica coffee beans can be grown in any coffee-growing country or region.
