Ok, I researched and browsed and googled every which way, the Sun Cafe brewing system and the Kienna coffee pods. I couldn't find a lot so I am determined to add to the pool of reviews because it is important to me to first hand feedback on products.
I purchased the Sun Cafe because I like the idea of Canadian distribution and a Canadian company selling the coffee pods. I purchases the brewing system at Bed and Bath Beyond and used the 20% coupon that was available on line.
The price of the pods is what interested me - and the fact that there is a foam layer.
I tried my first cup of coffee with the Backpacker's Brew pods (I like strong coffee)and the first cup out of the machine was perfect. It had a bit of foam on the top and the flavour/heat of the coffee was exactly right.
I visit a little shop downtown that has the perfect cup of coffee and what I had at home hit the nail on the head. I calibrated my machine to the size of cups I use (10 oz and 2 smaller cups for the 8 oz so I can pour two small ones at the same time) - I will be testing to see if I can run water through twice through a pod to double the value of the pods - and would use less milk in cup #2. I tend to like a strong cup early in the am and a little less so later on in the morning - and that is typically it for me each day.
I see also on Kienna website that fair trade and organic coffee is also available....
So far it's all good.
