Big shoutout to the folks at Maestri House for sending over their latest creation for us to try out… the MMF-9201 Electric Milk Frother.

We’re no strangers to Maestri Milk Frothers, as we reviewed their MMF-9304 model a while back.

This new model, the MMF-9201, has most of the same features and functions, but is a little more compact, with an integrated frothing chamber. By contrast, the MMF-9304 has a separate frothing jug.

Which is the better option?

I think it’s a matter of personal preference. Having a separate jug makes cleanup a little easier, particularly as it’s dishwasher safe. Point one for the MMF-9304.

On the other hand, with an integrated frothing chamber you get a lighter, more compact unit that fits even the smallest spot on your kitchen counter.

And while you can’t put it in your washing machine, the chamber has a non-stick surface that makes cleanup a breeze. Point two for the MMF-9201!

Super simple to use

Unlike some standalone frothers, this Maestri is incredibly simple to use.

The center button is for power, and starting the frothing process.

The button on the left is for setting the temperature, at 120, 140, or 160 degrees.

The button on the right gives you three levels of thickness for your froth, depending on what kind of espresso-based coffee you’re making.

And that’s it. No fancy frothing wand to worry about.

No more milk-frothing insecurity

I confess… I sometimes feel insecure about using a frothing wand on a high-end espresso machine. I’m dipping the tip of the wand in and out of the milk, hoping to find just the right position to get the thickness of froth or foam I’m looking for.

Honestly, I don’t do a great job of it. And I’ve seen baristas in coffee shops struggle in the same way, handing me a drink that isn’t quite as it should be.

That’s why I really like the Maestri House MMF-9201

This is a simple, compact unit, and it makes it super-easy to do the job right, very quickly, with minimum fuss.

And because it is a more compact unit, without an integrated milk chamber, it costs less than the MMF-9304 model.
